When was your business established?

After working in the nonprofit arena for most of my career (including establishing and directing three agencies). I began a small, part-time practice in 2001. I left the nonprofit arena and started my practice full-time in 2009.

Who is your ideal client?

The ideal client is an individual, couple or family who follows through with the assigned work between sessions. I believe the client is the expert on themselves, eventually, becoming their own best counselor. Someone that, although they may have fear about stepping off into the unfamiliar, they are willing to try and stretch their wings, in an effort to look for the unknown wonders that may exist around the corner.

They recognize that we grow and learn through our relationships with others. It is by in-depth exploration of the intense positive and negative feelings that are evoked in relationships, be that a significant family member, co-worker, friend, or also with one’s therapist, the opportunity for lasting change exists. For it is with within these exchanges that problems and issues become most keenly illuminated and it is through exploring and learning from these emotions and by freeing up different behavioral responses to them, that one’s life transforms. Progress however, requires a commitment to the work.

The ideal client is willing to work with me in short-term, solution based psychotherapy to deal with the presenting issue while maintaining a view toward the future journey that can be taken as a next step once the presenting problems have been successfully addressed. I believe in acting in the role of a guide as each client learns to recognize his/her own ongoing journey through life. I am hopeful that together we can identify where the client would like to journey and how best to get there together. I am a strong believer in short-term, solution based psychotherapy.”

What is unique about your business that you feel distinguishes you among others offering similar products or services?

I provide in-home therapy, which aids clients, couples and families to integrate what they learn into their lives, by having an environment where they feel safe and secure. In addition, it allows them the safety and security of being home after a session.
