Short description of your business:

Provide graphic design services, primarily for print, such as brochures, logos, annual reports, advertisements etc.

How long have you been in business?

I have been in the business of graphic design for over 20 years, but on my own, as North Creek Design, for only 2.5 years

How many employees are there? Just me, so far.

How did your business start?

I wanted to work fewer hours, have more flexibility in my schedule, and see how successful I could be managing my own business.

Who is your ideal customer?

My ideal customer would be someone who has a clear purpose and target audience for their graphics, is fairly decisive, and is willing and able to pay for creativity. I particularly like large projects that involve a lot of pieces and coordination.

What is unique about you and your business that you feel distinguishes you among others offering similar products or service?

I think I offer a level of customer service that is above average. I want my clients to feel comfortable and that they’re well taken care of.

Tell us something that would surprise people about your business?

Maybe that I also enjoy writing, which is something many graphics designers don’t like to deal with. But I am happy to research and write small amounts of copy for projects I am working on.

Personal Information:

Family information: I am married to a Wildlife Biologist and have one son at Skyview Junior High. I’ve got one brother that lives in North Carolina.

Pets:My beagle dog, Aly, just like me, loves people, loves to eat, and is getting gray

Personal interests or hobbies: Some friends call me “granola girl” because I’m really into nutrition and eating healthy, organic foods. I like to run, work out at the gym, garden, go on hikes, ski, scuba dive, travel, read, watch movies, cook, and meet new people.

If money, or anything else, were no obstacle, something that you would do?

Travel more – I love visiting other countries, exploring new places and learning about other cultures.

What is your favorite restaurant? Macaroni Grill – because you can create your own pasta topping.

What is your favorite color? Burgundy.

What is your favorite candy bar or snack? A good dark chocolate.

The most fun you have ever had? Exploring the jungles of Costa Rica.

An interesting trip you have taken? Riding in a hot air balloon over Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Tell us something that would surprise others to learn about you? I used to guide whale-watch excursions in Southern California.
